Sustainable factory premises

Our WALTER Technology Park is located on a 2.5-hectare site directly on the Kiel Canal, surrounded by forest. We endeavour to operate our company premises as sustainably as possible and to conserve resources in our daily work. Our site is also home to several bee colonies.

Modern production facility

The building technology at WALTER meets the highest requirements for a modern production facility. Our solar panels supply a quarter of our electricity consumption and an air heat pump allows us to heat and air-condition our company building in a climate-friendly way. We use green electricity from wind power. We use climate-neutralised liquid gas to test our baking equipment.

Our premises are also easily accessible by bike and many of our employees take advantage of our bike leasing programme. Electric charging stations are available for both e-bikes and electric cars.

Assembly takes place at modern workstations in our workshop. The latest design drawings can be called up on screens. Paper printouts are completely dispensed with.

WALTER bees in action

Our factory premises are home to over 300,000 bees. The bees are looked after by managing partner Andreas A. Eule, who has been a beekeeper for several years. Our customers and employees love the honey that is lovingly extracted by hand.

In Germany today, beekeepers have to fight for the habitat of their bees. Intensive arable farming, the chemicals used to control weeds and insects, but also aggressive bee diseases have led to a significant reduction in bee colonies. Yet the industrious collectors of nectar and pollen are important for many farmers. The farm animals not only provide honey and natural wax, they also pollinate around 80 per cent of all crops and wild plants in our country. Fruit and vegetables, cereals and crops - without bee colonies, yields would be far lower. Insects therefore also contribute to the preservation of biodiversity in the ecology.
